I offer individual and group consultation to licensed clinicians, as well as to associates gaining hours toward licensure.
We do our best work as clinicians when we are able to bring our whole selves to the task.
The problem is most therapy training wasn’t designed with you in mind— which can leave you feeling uncertain about how to be a therapist and also be yourself.
I understand what it’s like not to see yourself reflected in your teachers and supervisors.
For those of us with marginalized experiences, it’s hard to feel like you belong in spaces where you feel illegible and othered.
Psychodynamic theory tells us that understanding our countertransference– which is to say, reflecting on and staying connected to our own emotions and reactions– is essential to our clinical work. We know that our intrapsychic and interpersonal experiences cannot be understood separately from the world we live in.
Your life experiences, identities and social locations are key elements in your tool kit. And yet, our theory and teachers often fail to help us integrate them into our practice– especially when the therapist’s experiences fall outside the dominant paradigm.
I offer the kind of consultation that I wished for in my own training: relational, social justice oriented and culturally attuned.
I’m most interested in getting to know my consultees in depth.
What makes you remarkable? What are your particular strengths and talents? Let’s cultivate them and let them shine. We all know how difficult and painful this work can be. What’s the hard thing you like? The challenge that energizes and lights you up is often where we have the most to offer.
Together, we’ll get curious about the hows and whys of your work, to help you develop a frame that is intentional and culturally-attuned. A frame that honors you, your patients, and the powerful work you’re engaged in.
I approach supervision as a parallel process to psychotherapy: we will make use of our relationship and the dynamics that emerge between us to better understand your work with your clients.
You are your best instrument and I want to help you play it well.
Areas of Focus
finding your voice
Therapy is a lifelong learning practice, we stretch and grow beyond our comfort zone over and over again. And— your best therapist self is the one where you sound like yourself. I support therapists in finding their voice and identifying ways of working that feels both authentic and effective.
building the business end
Lots of us got great clinical training. Few of us got training in how to build a business. I love helping therapists figure out the nuts and bolts of creating a private practice that will take care of you and your patients.
eating disorders
Eating disorders and disordered eating are ubiquitous, and require specialized training that is rarely offered in graduate programs. I offer ongoing training and as-needed consultation to clinicians who want to deepen their knowledge and skills in eating disorder treatment.
group offerings
Consultation Groups
I offer consultation groups for therapists looking to deepen their clinical practice within a supportive and engaged community, as well as for those seeking additional training in relational psychotherapy and eating disorder treatment.
